About Injectable Fillers
Injectable wrinkle fillers (or dermal fillers) are often used to replenish lost facial volume. The face can lack fullness for a number of reasons, but weight loss and age are commonly to blame. This treatment works by injecting the dermal filler under the surface of the skin to fill in the areas that appear sunken or hollow. Fillers are a promising, nonsurgical option for Fort Lauderdale, FL women and men wanting to smooth wrinkles, fine lines, and sagging skin in order to create a more youthful appearance. There are many different types of fillers that can help meet the goals and desires of each individual. To decide which injectable fillers are best for you, we invite you to visit Fort Lauderdale Dermatology where fellowship-trained dermatologist Dr. Eric Wilkerson can help you make this decision.

Reviews
Ideal Candidates
The ideal candidates for injectable fillers would be anyone looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In most situations, individuals who have recently lost significant amounts of weight or who have areas on their face that are sunken and shapeless are great candidates. During your consultation, let our team know if you have any known allergies to dermal products or lidocaine.
Procedure Technique
Before your injection procedure, Dr. Wilkerson will consult with you to learn more about your cosmetic goals and determine what product may be best. At the time of the actual procedure, Dr. Wilkerson can administer numbing cream as a local anesthetic to minimize the discomfort of the injections. Dr. Wilkerson will decide how much product is appropriate and will slowly and gradually inject it through a very fine needle. Keeping the desired result in mind, either a portion or an entire syringe could be used during the procedure.
What to Expect
This procedure can be completed in our Fort Lauderdale, FL office quickly and with very few risks. Due to the use of anesthetic, the process is typically pretty tolerable and requires little to no downtime afterward. You should expect swelling and bruising immediately after, but these symptoms should fade within a couple of days. Results typically last from a few months to a year, depending on the product and the placement of the injection. To maintain optimal results, Dr. Wilkerson may recommend touch-ups, as well as a customized skin care routine.
